Haunted House Decorating Contest
Happy Spooktober!! Get in on some Halloween hi-jinks and unearth your ghoulish talents!
Join us in transforming our “Neck of the Woods” into something spectacular this Halloween. All Sunset Heights residents are invited to decorate their homes for our 2nd annual Haunted House Decorating Contest. Entries will be accepted now through Monday, October 25th.
This contest is open to any home within the Sunset Heights limits (The boundaries are Airline to Yale and 20th St./Robbie St. to 610). Decorations to be judged are limited to the exterior front yard and roof only. Decorations installed by a professional service won’t be eligible.
Use this ENTRY FORM to join the contest and SHARE this webpage with your neighbors. Please encourage them to join in the fun - the more the merrier! Entries must be submitted by Monday, October 25th. The judging will happen on Wednesday and Thursday, the 27th and 28th. The winners will be announced at the Sunset Cinema Night Saturday evening, October 30th!
This year's categories are:
SCARIEST: Entries will be judged on special effects and overall sense of fright!
JUDGES’ FAVORITE: This category is decided by the judges.
AWARDS: Best of Show - yard sign, local recognition on the SHCC’s website and social media, at the bulletin board at Halbert Park and possibly in The Leader newspaper, with some additional Halloween treats to boot!

SAFE HOUSE PLEDGE
Do not hand out candy if you are sick
Wear a face mask covering BOTH your mouth and nose
Take the Safe House pledge and register as an official Halloween Safe House
Use duct tape to mark 6-foot lines in front of home and leading to driveway/front door
Position a distribution table between yourself and trick or treaters
Distribute candy on disinfected table to eliminate direct contact
Wash hands often
