Historic Heights 19th Street

Historic Heights 19th Street

The neighborhood, which is bounded by I-610 (the loop) to the North, Airline Dr. to the East, 20th Street to the South, and Yale St. to the West, has all of the signature Heights amenities, yet some singular advantages of its own. There’s so much to love, we thought we’d list our top 6.

  1. Central, Inner Loop Location: Houstonians continue to thrive on inner city amenities, meaning living inside the loop is essential. Quick and easy access to the city’s urban core is a must for many and Sunset Heights checks that box. Depending on your inner loop destination, you can take Yale or T.C. Jester, or even Heights Boulevard (the scenic route).

  2. Super Close Proximity to the Loop: Being right up against the loop makes getting to the northern parts of town quick and direct. This can be a huge draw for those working in North Houston or beyond. From ExxonMobil’s state-of-the-art Spring campus to Intercontinental Airport, Sunset Heights residents can cut a good 15-20 minutes off the northern commute other Houstonians might have by hopping right on the loop and connecting immediately to I-45. Other advantages include a direct route to the Woodlands and all its amenities via the loop and I-45.

  3. Walking Distance from 19th Street Shopping District: Sitting just north of 20th Street, Sunset Heights is walking distance from the Heights’ famed 19th Street shopping and dining.

  4. Great Food All Around: The delicious food extends well beyond the wonderful restaurants found on 19th Street. Sunset Heights also benefits from having many other local favorites such as Angela’s Oven, Jus’ Mac, Teotihuacan, and Canino Produce’s Farmers Market nearby. Consider Johnny’s Gold Brick and Lei Low your new neighborhood bars!

  5. Quick Access to White Oak Bayou Greenway Trail: When it comes to enjoying one of Houston’s greatest natural resources, the bayous, Sunset Heights’ further north location opens up possibilities. Many Greater Heights residents will head south to take advantage of Buffalo Bayou Park, and while this remains a very viable option for Sunset Heights residents, they are also in prime position to appreciate and benefit from use of the White Oak Bayou Greenway Trail.

  6. Houston Heights Association Membership: Even though Sunset Heights is its own distinct neighborhood, Sunset Heights residents actually have the ability to become members of the Houston Heights Association and its constable program, which offers enhanced patrol services making this already safe neighborhood even safer!

We’d like to add, a membership with the Sunset Height Civic Club gives you representation at the Houston Heights Association and at Super Neighborhood 15 for the Greater Heights.
